the same question on why the ability of Jamaicans to achieve great successes the goal of lifting the island to "First World Status" has been elusive.

Is Omar McLeod merely showing off his talent on the track?

Omar McLeod
When newly minted Olympic 110-m hurdles champion, Mr Omar McLeod contests the 100-metre sprint at the Zurich Diamond League today, will he be merely showing off his talent on the track?
Mr McLeod will be taking on some of the biggest names in sprint, including his compatriot Mr Asafa Powell; the American Mike Rodgers; the emerging Ben Youssef Meite of Ivory Coast; and Great Britain’s Adam Gemili, among others.
As the sixth-fastest man in the line-up, Mr McLeod stands to be embarrassed if he trails the field so soon after attaining Olympic glory as Jamaica’s first gold medallist in the men’s 110-metre hurdles.
His decision to compete in the 100 metres at Zurich is hardly likely, therefore, to be merely showing off. Mr McLeod, whether that was his intention or not, is demonstrating the indomitable Jamaican spirit that has made us who we are.
