  • Trump, the media and voters...that 'The Wall?

First let us put this out of the way - TRUMP is a RACIST!

    Now on to 'The Wall'.
Never could understand and still cannot understand why both politicians and media play us voters for fools? (scratch 'ead emoticon)

    The Wall
    1. It appears Trump's wall shall be line of demarcation between the USA and Mexico...if that is what he is on to, why there?

    2. What is the purpose of/for The Wall?

    3. Trump often says, and he has not given any other reason...that The Wall is to secure the borders of the USA.

...well how would any voter or any rational persons think on and of, or for that matter define, the borders of the USA? ...and there is the matter of thinking on same within context of today's world, and our present machines and technological advances?

    4. Is building The Wall on the USA/Mexico border about sending a message on race?

    5. If The Wall is about erecting a physical structure to keep persons entering the USA illegally, is that building of that physical structure a sensible act?

The point of "Build a Wall" is to rally nativists and racists, and it has worked really well up to this point. One could say that and the other anti-immigrant rants are what won him the Republican nomination.

The thing to understand about Trump is that he doesn't really have any core political belief other than wanting to win. He will say ANYTHING, as he has no real interest in policy and governance. He is the typical conman who will tell you that the sky is red if that is what you want to hear, but if tomorrow you accept that it is not red he will say of course it is blue and he was trying to tell you that all along.

They play voters for fools because for the most part they are fools, at least in the political sense of being mostly uninformed.

Any wall built would be a waste of time and money and Trump and his cronies know that. For one, many immigrants these days are smuggled across the border using tunnels.

      Factual!

      Agreed!

Let me blatantly skirt what you state by first saying:
      You are on point about voters often voting against self-interest;

...and asking, how deeply would the majority of voters have to delve into the various issues to arrive at a correct position on what is best for self, family and country?

For example, besides physically looking around what would it take to become aware that say, inner cities need vastly more investments in infrastructure and delivery of services?
...that for example, 'di government' needs to be intimately involved in our lives with great improvement on provision of services - security, health, education, other 'life improvement' goods and services while allowing for making of choices and individual development to fullest good (= worth-while potential)...and voting on issues and for candidates that within offered choice, best satisfies those needs and wants?

      Absolutely!

      Yuh sure bout dat?

"many"? - Compared to what number(s)?

I would think that southern border is a tiny section of our borders. What of the vast coast-line bordered by 'seas' and 'lakes' and the area within such - On Airports: Think airports...both designated international, local national airports and air-strips...and the tremendous number of areas where transportation that flies can be put down?

btw - What are the figures on known infiltration through our international airports where 'illegals' enter vs numbers crossing other areas of our borders?

It takes time, effort and some basic education to understand the issues in any depth. Most people just are not up for that.

If your belief is that the immigrants are the problem, then a politician who says "lets get rid of immigrants" is always going to have a stronger message than one who tries to make an argument that immigrants are not the problem.

As to stats on illegal immigrants, the most recent estimates I have seen are that about 40% of illegals are visa overstayers. The vast majority of the remaining 60% got to the US by crossing the Southern border. Of course most of these are Mexicans and other Central Americans.

The tunnel crossers are probably a small proportion of those but as the over-land crossings become more difficult, there will be more incentive to build them.

Bottom line is that the wall, wether built or just promised, is a PR stunt that appeals to a certain demographic.

          Overt vs covert.
The better half actually put into motion a series of events that circumvented black families throughout Merika.
Racism is a no spin zone, and the wellbeing of my people is too important for it to be backseated because of the undue niceties ,rather slavishly I may add, bestowed on the perceived lesser of the two evils.

That highlighted section says there is a possibility that 40% visa overstayers + (x% - the less than "vast majority" - of the remaining 60%) could = greater than 50% entering at other combined points away from the Southern border, hence the importance or rather relevance of - "Yuh sure bout most illegals enter from the Southern border?"
