Jamaica steady on Social Progress Index

Jamaica ranked 78th for Basic Human Needs, 44th for Foundations of Well-being and 34th for Opportunity.

The country scored lowest for Access to Advanced Education with a score of 41.62 — a component of Opportunity; and also scored low for Personal Safety, with a score of 47.11, one of the Basic Human Needs.

Looking at violent crime in particular, Jamaica was ranked at at the very bottom of the list in 122nd position along with 11 other countries , including: Mexico, South Africa, El Salvador, Venezuela, Guatemala, Honduras, Iraq, Nigeria, Guinea, Afganistan, and Central African Republic.

Let's fast forward to 2035 AD

....Less than 20 years away. Anju is nearing the end of his 4th term in charge

In progressive countries:

* Robotic vehicles ferry people around almost anywhere...taxi drivers are an expensive rarity
* Maids, store clerks, cleaners, food service workers etc are largely replaced by AI-enabled robots .. Such workers are seen as "quaint relics" of a bygone era
* Pollution, climate change and rising sea levels have destroyed tropical coastlines & reefs...rendering them inhospitable eyesores

Meanwhile back in sweet, quixotic Jamaica:

* The round-the-island sightseeing tourist train system was just completed as a "critical infrastructure project"(cost US$650M) .....Hordes of trinket sellers line the routes noisily hawking carved goods trying to get the attention of fat tourists. The tourists look at the "natives" with a mixture of fear and amusement

* People yell excitedly...Driva!!!....doan tap di choochoo atall!!!!!!!!!
