by law enforcement in a very...well, more forceful way than he has in the past.
I know some may feel his address is a little late, and you may be right. But what I want to point out in this post is how much time Obama spent on trying to "prove" that, talking about these killings, does not and should not mean that we don't recognize the difficulty of the job of police officers, that there are many more good cops than bad, that blacks too often are involved in situations that attract interactions from law enforcement and that all lives matter.
He tried to explain that, yes, all lives matter, but the slogan "black lives matter" is only trying to address this disparity that appears to exist within the law enforcement and the justice system.
It's a pity he had to do this because anybody with an iota of sense should know all that is a given. But he is not that naive to believe that over the next few days, his speech and the facts around the incidents will not descend into the usual political and trashy talk by tv commentators, politicians, celebrities and classic idiots like Donald Trump.
