    Ganja ATMs! - Port Kiosks For Tourist

    If the Cannabis Licensing Authority (CLA) has its way, Jamaica's air- and seaports will have kiosks or dedicated desks where visitors can pick up a licence to sample some of the 'good herb' to enhance their island experience. The CLA is already looking at the framework for the operation of the entities.

    "We've had our first meeting, and my thinking is that we'd need a few weeks to turn out an appropriate policy document," reported chairman of the Medical Committee of the CLA, Dr Winston De La Haye.

    Ganja Industry Not A Magic Wand

    However, Seiveright pointed out, as impressive as those figures may be, it may not materialise in the case of Jamaica, because the Government has not, and may not, sanction the widescale recreational use of ganja any time soon.


    That, he said, means many farmers who had been cultivating ganja illegally over the years are not likely to transition that into a legal business.

      Social questions that need to be asked and reported on

      * How many of our citizens were not criminalised since the new law
      * How much money was saved by the criminal justice system
      * Where was that money diverted to

      Those are the questions that need to be asked when framing this debate ,its basically what are we getting out of it as a nation socially.Keep in mind our penal system has a budget of 1 to 3 billion JMD per year.

        I think there is a serious problem when we are relying on IMF to give us loans that pales in comparison to the proceeds that would be generated from a ganja industry.
        Jamaica has the right to do what it wishes on the domestic front.

          Under the previous law,ganja arrest accounted for 90 % .Its good people can sing about the supposed commercial benefits,but people must not forget the social and financial cost of an idiotic law that put the government against the cultural norms of a nation.
