American Roots of Jamaican Music..

Very nice, no doubt American music was a significant branch in the development of Jamaican music but sometimes I believe this is over emphasized and the impact of Cuban, Latin, Other Caribbean music like Calypso as well as the real root of Jamaican music being the gerreh, pocomania, kumina, dinki Minnie and other strong original roots form of music even European derived forms such as the quadrille dance related sounds and church music played the critical part in the development of the jamaican sound and feel of what we have today.
In my mind American music was more like a feature flavor added in via mass media access in a specific time span just before launch of the local recorded music industry which makes its influence seem bigger than it really is.
