  • Microsoft Twitter Bot goes racist within 24 hours of launch

Ah well I suppose we can expect more of the same when the robots are running the place!

Tay's Twitter bio claimed that the bot got smarter the more people talked, according to Gizmodo. However, within 24 hours after launch the machine started making racist and Neo-Nazi messages, and referred to Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump as the United States' only hope.

If assimilation can only occur from 'the environment' then the logic suggests the chatter overwhelmingly being communicated is racist...right? Then going racist is mere reflection or regurgitation, if you wish...of the tenor of the discourse (in the environment). Right!

Generally speaking yes that would be true. However from what I understand in this case, the belief is that the bot was "targeted" for racist teaching.

That would explain how quickly it became a fan of Hitler and Trump. At least we hope so!!
