The person having the greatest Number of votes for President, shall be the President, if such number be a majority of the whole number of Electors appointed; and if no person have such majority, then from the persons having the highest numbers not exceeding three on the list of those voted for as President, the House of Representatives shall choose immediately, by ballot, the President. But in choosing the President, the votes shall be taken by states, the representation from each state having one vote; a quorum for this purpose shall consist of a member or members from two-thirds of the states, and a majority of all the states shall be necessary to a choice

Interesting idea, I actually didn't know that there was a process like this if no candidate gets to 270 electoral votes.

Very difficult to get to this outcome though, as the third party candidate would have to win states that Obama won the last two times. It's one thing to win 10-15% of the vote overall but to win a state and get the electoral votes is a much greater challenge especially for someone like Romney who couldn't win them as a major party candidate.

I could only see his happening if Hilary totally self destructs due to an indictment or something along those lines. That would have to happen along with Trump winning the GOP nomination which is not a certainty by any means.

I expect Trump to be comfortably over the required delegate requirement before the GOP Convention.

That would be that as going against him then would had the House...yes, the house with its current huge GOP majority and the Senate, as the Trump legions either remain home - most would - and significant numbers moving to casting voting for Hillary and Democratic candidates. Many GOP politicians careers would then be ruined in those elections. Some buried never to be heard from again.

An Aside: Like Bernie Sanders, Trump has not had a glove laid on him. In the coming election for President he shall get Hillary type treatment. His every indiscretion and shocking misstep will be laid bare. When that is added to his clear racist positions and character Hillary should have a landslide Electoral College win. One even greater than President Obama ever had.
