Rum thief to spend 18 months in jail
Wednesday, February 03, 2016 1 comment
A repeat offender, who stole seven bottles of White Overproof Rum from a supermarket in St Andrew in 2013, was sentenced to 18 months in prison after he told the magistrate that he stole them to finance his medical bill.
Lennox Guy pleaded guilty with explanation to a charge of simple larceny when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate Court two Thursdays ago.
Allegations are that on the evening of December 5, 2013, a security guard at a Hi-Lo Supermarket in St Andrew observed that Guy, who had a bulge in his pocket, did not make a payment at the cashier.
