Never has has a major party had a frontrunner for the presidential nomination who has never served in government in some capacity.

Never has a presidential candidate publicly lambasted his partys previous president in debates, basically calling him a liar and a war criminal, and yet remained as a leading candidate for his/her party.

No presidential candidate in the last 50 years has openly and directly used racism, sexism and bigotry as the platform that launches them to frontrunner status

No leading presidential candidate in recent times has gone on a public stage using curse words to describe opponents and threating physical harm to people in the crowd who heckle him.

Do you need more than that? What this man has been doing is so far outside what is in the modern playbook for running for president that nobody really knows how to counteract it.

Maybe he hit upon it by accident, maybe it would only have worked this election cycle, but whatever it is, it has been working. He has won 3 of 4 states so far and is leading in the polls in 90% of the remaining ones.

The Democrats would do well to not take this Trump phenomenon too lightly.
