    Pryce Cut
PNP officers vote overwhelmingly to remove embattled MP as deputy general secretary

PRYCE... his supporters flocked PNP headquarters Monday

THE People’s National Party (PNP) officer corps and Parliamentary Group on Monday night voted overwhelmingly to remove St Elizabeth North Eastern Member of Parliament Raymond Pryce as the party’s deputy general secretary, PNP insiders told the Jamaica Observer yesterday.

The decision, taken at a joint meeting of both groups, came hours after busloads of Pryce supporters travelled from his constituency to Kingston, Monday, and flooded the PNP’s Old Hope Road headquarters in a failed last-ditch attempt to have the party’s leadership change its decision regarding who represents the organisation in the next general election.

Pryce, who won the seat in the December 29, 2011 General Election, has been replaced as the candidate for the next poll by St Elizabeth businessman Evon Redman, a powerful figure in the PNP’s St Elizabeth hierarchy. That decision was made last September, following a drawn-out selection process that saw Pryce making a last-minute withdrawal and Redman winning the exercise with 339 ‘yes’ votes of the 467 delegates who cast ballots.

UPDATE: Raymond Pryce quits as PNP deputy general secretary
    Wednesday, January 13, 2016 | 1:36 PM

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Embattled Deputy General Secretary of the ruling People’s National Party (PNP) Raymond Pryce has resigned from that position with immediate effect.

Pryce, in a letter to PNP President and Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller earlier Wednesday, said that recent events had forced him to take the decision.

“Situations within the political organisation of the People’s National Party in North Eastern St Elizabeth have – despite my best efforts to prevent same – continued to play out in a very public manner,” Pryce wrote to Simpson Miller. “All of us as comrades support the right of our membership to express opinions freely and to do so respectfully and within the established channels.

“The current situation has caused significant strain and concern to me as Member of Parliament and as an officer of the party who holds the post of Deputy General Secretary/Communication.

delegates select if they are a paid up and in line with other rules of the party. This is ratified by the party heads. If not then the party select the select the candidates.

This is a racket on the scale of a ponzi scheme, where money and human rights are manipulated away, this is not a democracy. Its a democratic dictatorship in its truest sense, governance is dictated to the constituents.

delegates also vote in most US presidential run off for party choice.

In many states the voters do not choose.

It would be a revolution if delegates went against their constituents wishes here in the states, but not JA.

It happen more times than you would think in the US, but the party know that this will lead to less than motivated support in their respective districts.

US is hardly perfect. But still what's happening in Jamaica is quite unsettling. At least, what's happening in the PNP...!

But why should general constituents have a say in the selection of a party candidate?

Why should a JLP party member have a say in selecting a PNP candidate and vice versa?

If you want to select a party candidate then join the party! Otherwise general elections is your time to have your voice heard.

Happens all the time. The Republicans lost a few Senate seats by pushing forward a Tea Party candidate over the more mainstream incumbent candidate.

What happening in the party is a generation thing and ownership thing.
It also happen in the JLP. The old people in the party don't want to give up power so easy, they hang onto it and the youngsters are rebelling.

Oldster want people to fall in line and wait their turn and feel they should be respected but youngsters believe it is their time. Right now in the PNP the oldsters are wining but they can't keep it up. In the JLP the youngsters kinda shake out the oldsters and keeping them at bay.

The only problem is that it has become public and a bit too dirty but it is will be a fight until some of the current generation disappear.
