    The resurgence of Andrew Holness

ANDREW Holness, who has been on a rocky ride since his Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) lost the Government to the Portia Simpson Miller-led People's National Party (PNP) in December 2011, seems to be making a big comeback.

The resurgence of the once embattled JLP leader could see him leading his party to victory in the impending general election, depending on who the real powerbrokers -- the people -- decide to hand the mantle of leadership.

Last Thursday, Holness said that he is ready to lead a Government that is more accountable to the people, more efficient, and one that will not only defend and protect the rights of all Jamaican citizens, but expand those rights.

Well, looks like he scared Sista P into "suspending" the campaign for a while. It must be that the PNP were not comfortable with what they were seeing on the ground. If victory was assured there is no doubt the election would have been called before year-end.

The question is what does the JLP do from here. Keep their composure and momentum or fall apart?

Portia to me is very calculating, she doesnt want a close victory,a perception of even a threat to her victory. She wants to embarrass the JLP like she did the last time,I dont think she will get that ,if she calls it now or later.

The JLP will be beaten,i dont think badly but questions will be asked about the PNP and the JLP will go through its usual purge, hopefully the opposition comes out with a new leader who promises transformative change.

Right now its clear that the PNP would lose if they held elections. Its the ONLY reason its postponed.

Apparently, the recent negatives took too much of a toll.

Portia needs to give Phillips the wuk and just go campaign. Phillips at least seems serious and credible to take it up a notch. Portia for GG. She would be great at that.

There is a GREAT risk in postponing it. More scandals can pop up. She is counting on 2 things 1. Being able to patch up the rift in her party and 2. There will be euphoric feelings coming out of the Christmas season and people will feel everything is alright

Even with whatever riff, Big business doesnt want the JLP.It might be a little close, and thats giving them alot of grace, dont confuse the PNP bangarang wid di JLPs dem inna different class, dat people nuh want.

I cant see them winning. But hey I could be wrong.

The JLP has recently been flooded with campaign money from Pvt sector.

Even Butch seems to be cozying up, based on Observer rumblings.

Any number can play going fwd.
