Video Shows NYPD Cop Tackle Former Tennis Star James Blake

    by NBC NEWS

Video Captures Moment Cop Tackle James Blake to Ground 1:25
New York police released a surveillance video Friday that shows one of its undercover officers tackling and handcuffing former tennis star James Blake outside a Manhattan hotel on Wednesday, a case of mistaken identity that prompted apologies from the mayor and police commissioner.

The video opens with Blake leaning against a pillar outside the Grand Hyatt New York Hotel in the Midtown Manhattan. The officer, dressed in jeans and a white T-shirt, charges up to him, twists Blake's left arm behind him and throws him to the ground. The officer puts Blake in handcuffs, pulls him to his feet and leads him away.

The arrest occurred during the takedown of a suspected credit-card fraud ring that used the hotel for deliveries. Blake, in town for the U.S. Open, was misidentified by a cooperating witness as one of the suspects, police officials said.

I would not be surprised if some of us don't have a problem with this. The guy was suspected of a crime, the police did what they had to do. Ok, so it turns out it was an error, let's just move on.

Nope, the agression is the problem over there.

      Everything is disproportionate.

Ok, one was aggressive, the other wasn't.

How about just being treated like everyone else in America? Why are blacks already singled out, profiled, and having to prove that they aren't about to rob nice and decent people?

They are both problems that must be confronted and resisted!

It's only when you get to court, maybe, that innocent until proven guilty applies.
