  • Logistics hub dream step closer to reality

    AMAICA'S long-anticipated logistics hub dream seems to be one step closer to becoming a reality.

    Designated Free Zone administrator and operator Masada Jamaica Limited has entered a concessionary agreement with lubricant blender Gulfray America's Manufacturing Limited for the development and management of the Spanish Town Free Zone to the tune of US$350 million.

    THERE IS ONLY ONE ONANDI LOWE!

    "Good things come out of the garrisons" after his daughter won the 100m Gold For Jamaica.

    "It therefore is useless and pointless, unless it is for share malice and victimisation to arrest and charge a 92-year-old man for such a simple offence. There is nothing morally wrong with this man smoking a spliff; the only thing wrong is that it is still on the law books," said Chevannes.

    Panama: from failed state to economic powerhouse

    How did this happen just next door? And if Panama could rescue itself from the abyss, then why hasn't Jamaica been able to do the same over this period? What are the governance lessons that can be learnt from our neighbour, and how can we accelerate the learning curve on the path to national prosperity?

    Following the US invasion in late 1989, Panama's constitutional government structures were restored with painstaking bipartisan effort, and a slow but steady process of institutional reform began to take shape, replacing the old state structures marked by crony capitalism.

        Was Panama that bad tho? I went there in the Noriega years and it seemed like it was booming, so I hope the revisionists are not just simply busy at work.

          Yep ! and this is the thing, if we common people can see it , you dont think they in power do too ?

          As I have always stated the constitutional political arrangement suits political parties not the people, what is baffling is that the opposition doesnt seize or tap into this frustration by offering people something new and get into power.

          * An independent corruption prosecutor- OCG with teeth.

          * Seperation of judicial - political powers, (where there is perception)

          * Term Limits

          * An open P.M or Presidential politics where anyone can rise to be governing the Island irrespective/independent of party affiliation

          I am pretty sure you have more , but it starts with a constitution where the people can feel as if they have a say in the Island.I am a 100% sure the economy will prosper after this.

            True...but while the case may be overstated, there is no reason for Jam to be so far behind...

              It is baffling how the parties have no idea of vision, storytelling, message, etc. Clueless.
