THE ruling People's National Party (PNP) has decided to replace businessman Peter Blake with Government Senator Imani Duncan Price in the St Andrew East Rural constituency for the next general election expected within weeks, the Jamaica Observer can reveal.
Duncan Price, 38, was asked by members of the party's hierarchy to take charge of the constituency last week, after rumours emerged that Blake, who defeated incumbent Member of Parliament Damion Crawford in a selection race recently, would not be allowed to represent the party.
Information reaching the Sunday Observer is that the only obstacle left in Duncan Price's way is clearance from the PNP's Integrity Commission, which she is expected to face by later this week.
The reasons for Blake's ouster were not made clear up to late yesterday, but this marks the second time in consecutive elections and successive selection races that he has been denied by the party's leadership, thus clearing ground for a fresh round of speculation.
