SCOTLAND is being urged to formally acknowledge its “moral obligation” to Jamaica over its slave heritage with the Caribbean island and the economic riches that followed.

A campaign is being launched to recognise the fortunes many Scots made from the “slave economy” and to make the island a “priority country” for Scotland in terms of trade and development.

THERE IS ONLY ONE ONANDI LOWE!

"Good things come out of the garrisons" after his daughter won the 100m Gold For Jamaica.

"It therefore is useless and pointless, unless it is for share malice and victimisation to arrest and charge a 92-year-old man for such a simple offence. There is nothing morally wrong with this man smoking a spliff; the only thing wrong is that it is still on the law books," said Chevannes.

In which Commonwealth country outside Scotland will you find the highest percentage of people with Scottish surnames?

You might expect the answer to that question to be Canada or New Zealand, but the surprising answer is Jamaica.

Interestingly the English were the plantation owners and the Scots were mostly the overseers while the Irish were indentured labourers or 'almost slaves' .... Why do you think there are so many Scottish names?

            Yep and his wives.

Sexual exploits and preferred slave, Phibbah[edit]
Though Thistlewood never married, his sexual exploits were prolific with his diary chronicling 3,852 acts of sexual intercourse and/or rape with 138 women, nearly all of whom were black slaves. He favoured his black slave, Phibbah, a Coromantee who essentially became his "wife". Over their 33-year relationship, Phibbah and Thistlewood developed what Burnard calls "a warm and loving relationship, if such a thing was possible between a slave and her master."[citation needed] Phibbah would eventually acquire property including land, livestock, and slaves as well as a sufficient "respectability" among white women.
