  • SW St Andrew to be "crisp like biscuit"...shortly

It has been a loong time comin' (30+ years) but I know, change is gonna come!

Member of Parliament for South West St Andrew Portia Simpson Miller
on Sunday vowed to continue developing her constituency until it is “crisp like a biscuit”.

Shame is a hell of a thing to lack.

      Portia's Concrete Jungle.
What I would love Portia to explain to me is what can she do as PM to help her constituency that eluded her for years as the MP?
What has she done to make MP's more effective given they can't all end up becoming the PM?

        MP?

This is her 2nd stint as PM...over 5 years in total!

There is no excuse for this sudden Damascus conversion. NONE!

She meant unapologetic, within the same vein as our distinctive usage of the word ignorant.
Leave har, even though I agree that shame is a vital component.

She certainly thinks her party will win the next general election.Maybe she is rallying the troops.

It is incomprehensible to me for her to make such a statement after decades of neglect.

I agree but it seems to me now that this is a mind control, Stockholm Syndrome type of thing that these politicians have over the people.

These people are living in absolute squalor, 18th century conditions at best, and have been for a long time. Yet clearly they LOVE this woman and others like her who are supposed to be helping them to improve their lives. The question we have to ask is why? Lack of education is a big part of it but I think there is a bit more to it than that.

lack of education is only part. The shield of free light, is also going, hopefully free water and Bolo work or free paycheck will also disappear and people will say "why am I holding onto this?" Some will move, and others will start thinking it is not worth it.

For some people it is home, their primary concerns are that of the majority of Jakans, for other it is harnessing whatever(illicit) benefits to be derived by association with a top notch politician.
If you do not have a lottery ticket then you have ZERO chance of winning,it benefits ouer politicians to have their support base thinking they are a little better off than others, and that is wholly dependent on their party being in power.
Also, depending on who is talking ..,but still we are likely to hear about the horrors of the 70's,but in my opinion, the criteria for becoming an area leader changed significantly, and therein lies the problem.

How exactly should MPs "fix up" their constituencies?
