It is very disturbing that Wolmer's Boys School stands alone as a traditional boys school with good academic results. What is going on at the other traditional boys schools? Misplaced priorities?

Jamaica's education realities in Century 21

For the shallow thinkers these are the keys to a Jamaican school getting above average results in standardized tests:

#1 ADMIT GIRLS ....They outperform boys by as much as 40% at GSAT level..So the pool of high performers skews massively female

#2 HAVE AN ASSOCIATED PREP SCHOOL AS A FEEDER... Prep schools outperform primary schools MASSIVELY....

#3 BE RELATIVELY SMALL... It's much easier for a small exam-taking cohort to maintain relatively high results than a big school. Schools above say1600 students (ESPECIALLY ALL BOYS) will struggle to be at the top

#4 DON'T BE LOCATED IN AN UNDESIRABLE AREA & SO ATTRACT MIDDLE & UPPER MIDDLE CLASS STUDENTS.... This is self-explanatory

The more of those metrics that a school has...the better it'll tend to perform.

The typical superficial-thinking Jamaican (like you for example) seems incapable of this type of penetrating but simple analysis... So they resort to ignorant, banal speculation

After all...Good analysis is NOT exactly Rocket Science or Robotics..is it

I see StGC by default has benefited from being grouped with Munro,now if only we can get Munro to be a heavyweight schoolboy football team just maybe "no excuse" will not be used as an excuse!

Don1 said it best. The important score is how much improvement you make with the incoming cohort you are given.

If you get all the brightest CE passers and output them at the same level, then the only credit you can get is for not destroying value.
