  • PNP Divisional office in St. Ann fire-bombed

The police in St. Ann are investigating what seem to be the fire-bombing of a section of the People's National Party's (PNP) Divisional office on Windsor Road in St. Ann's Bay.

But even as the police begin their investigation the PNP's candidate for North Eastern St. Ann, Oswest Senior Smith said if the act is politically motivated, he is not daunted.

“I will let the entire constituency and the entire Jamaica know that we have been on the road in a very obvious way in the last few weeks and we will not be daunted,” said Mr. Senior Smith.

“We are not terrified by the act it will not stop us it is very palpable to the point tangible and touchable that the constituency is coming together for the People’s National Party and we will be continuing our ground work with the people,”

“We will not be intimidated; never will we be intimidated by what is being done,” he said.

It is reported that the office was bottle-bombed shortly after 4 o'clock Sunday morning.

Firefighters probing an early morning fire on Windsor Road, St. Ann's Bay are unable to determine whether the blaze was the work of arsonists.

The fire destroyed a section of the People's National Party's Divisional office on Windsor Road in St. Ann's Bay.

Acting Assistant Superintendent Richard Stephens of the St. Ann's Bay Fire Department says a fire call was received about four this morning.

“One unit from the St. Ann’s Bay Fire Station responded given the location the brigade observed trailers which housed a welding shop engulfed in flames. This blaze was controlled and extinguished,” said Superintendent Stephens.

“Welding equipment tools and a section of the building were destroyed by the fire with an estimated loss of $3 million. We do not have any evidence to say that this was arson at this time thus we are still investigating this,” he said.

Police investigators reportedly seized two bottles containing liquid believed to be gasoline.

But even as the police continue their investigation the PNP's candidate for North Eastern St. Ann, Oswest Senior Smith said he is not daunted.
