WINNIPEG, Canada (CMC) – Jamaican Chavion Chow virtually secured the jockeys’ title at Assiniboia Downs on Sunday, when he landed two Stakes wins as part of a triple on the eight-race card.
Chow won the CAN$25 000 Gold Cup Stakes with even-money favourite Magic D’Oro in race three and returned in the day’s penultimate race to win the $25 000 Winnipeg Futurity with near-favourite Heber.
His third win came in race five with favourite Pardon Me Roy.
Chow, however, was forced to share some of the spotlight with Barbadian Chris Husbands who took the other added-money event on the day’s card, piloting favourite Go Go Lolo to the capture of the $25 000 Manitoba Matron Stakes in race four.
