Carey Gabay, the Harvard-educated Cuomo lawyer shot

Gabay is Jamaican and grew up in public housing in the Bronx. He is married to Trenelle Gabay, who is from Trinidad. They are expecting their first child.

Gabay served as assistant counsel to the governor until 2011, and worked as a banking and finance associate at Jones Day law firm from 2007 to 2009.
