"It therefore is useless and pointless, unless it is for share malice and victimisation to arrest and charge a 92-year-old man for such a simple offence. There is nothing morally wrong with this man smoking a spliff; the only thing wrong is that it is still on the law books," said Chevannes.

Some consider his 1977 album Man From Wareika to be his best work and Rodriguez himself has been quoted as saying that it was the first album on which he was able to perform to the best of his ability.

He added: “The first things that came to me were the things that my family used to play in Wareika Hills with Count Ossie and Don Drummond.”

Rico Rodriquez, MBE, born Emmanuel Joseph Rodriquez (Kingston, Jamaica October 17, 1934 to September 4, 2015), was best known as a trombonist and composer who emerged on the local scene at the beginning of Jamaica's recording industry, playing a fusion of American jump blues coloured by a 'native' lilt and infused with Rastafari nuances. A product of the famous Alpha Boys' School, where the more advanced trombonist Don Drummond mentored him, Rico also played the trumpet, saxophone and clarinet.

Y'know... It's good when foreigners respect our achievements enough to document them. Ok that fact is out of the way

What is absolutely HORRIBLE is the situation where we Jamaican's DON'T DOCUMENT our achievements...and leave the field to foreigners to define who and what we are.. We don't respect the written word, film or audio documentation...unless foreigners dweet

For example...Consider the achievements of Jamaica's female singers...why haven't Jamaicans documented that..when so many like to yap????

We're currently working with a foreigner who has done just that and MUCH more on JA music. It's a bitter-sweet experience for the reason that ...while we're happy it's being done...it's incredible that there is almost ZERO Jamaican scholarship on the subject

We are just a bunch of backward yappers in so many ways... it's disgusting.

Time for the incessant yappers and s-called experts on Things Jamaican to actually DO SOMETHING USEFUL & LASTING ...instead of just blowing smoke out of where the sun dont shine.

Das why mi nuh ave nuh patience nor respek fi people who just pose yuhnuh
