People should be punished for Sandy Bay mess, says Donald Buchanan
Information and Development Minister Donald Buchanan says heads should roll over the Ministry of Education’s failed attempt to construct a High School in Sandy Bay, Clarendon.
Speaking on Beyond the Headlines on Thursday, Mr. Buchanan disclosed that the technical officers in the ministries involved in the foul-up should be punished for not seeking the proper approval.
On Monday, it emerged that Sandy Bay High would not be built in time for the September term, as the building plans were not approved by the Clarendon Parish Council.
After plans collapsed, the 250 GSAT students who were recently awarded places at the institution were reassigned to six other schools.
The schools include Denbigh, Garvey Maceo and Bustamante High Schools in Clarendon.
Another set of students was placed at Tacius Golding, Old Harbour and Innswood High Schools in St. Catherine.
Some parents had expressed concern about plans for Sandy Bay High including the proposed location, which is said to be in a volatile community.
