Actually, I was asking myself the question of what the fallout would have been like if the shooter were white and the reporters black... I was listening to the report on the BBC and I noticed that they didn't say what the race/colour of the victims was... as if they did not want to portray this as a racial incident. But, the shooter said in his note (according to the report) that he had felt discriminated against and that was the motivation for his act. The station had let him go recently it seems.
Anyway, it is a sad situation.Peter R

Clearly racially motivated. Yes he is sick in the head but so was the South Carolina church shooter.
Seems like a Colin Ferguson type of situation, middle class black person who is failing in life and decides its all about race and snaps."It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men" - Frederick Douglass

Of course, what BT didn't bring up is the gun control lobbyists (who are not his most favourite people), and how they will use this incident to add to their arsenal (if I may use that term) of evidence to bring about some sanity to the proliferation of guns in the USA.
Personally, I do not like guns. They make me very nervous. But that's just me. However, the NRA types point to second amendment rights but fail to tell the people that the 2nd Amendment was written at a time when it was in the State's interest to have a well armed population because of the recently concluded Revolutionary war. Today, the State's security services (US Armed Forces) and a civilian militia is not really necessary. Anyway, we here in these small States are suffering the fallout from the ease with which illegal guns are being acquired.Peter R

America is violent country and we can't turn back the clock & return the genie to the bottle. Some believe if we pass certain laws we will live in a non-violent utopia, while others believe there should be no restrictions at all. Both sides are deeply flawed, and use tragic incidents such as this to further their own agendas.Winning means you're willing to go longer, work harder, and give more than anyone else - Vince Lombardi

Suspect with a history of crying Racism
Black Suspect Who Filmed Himself Killing White Former Colleagues Had History of Crying Racism
This morning at approximately 6:45 am Eastern, 24-year old WDBJ TV reporter Alison Parker and 27-year old cameraman Adam Ward were gunned down in Moneta, Virginia live on air as Parker was interviewing Vicki Gardner about tourism in the area. Parker and Ward both died. Gardner, who was shot in the back, is being treated at a local hospital.
The suspect has been identified as 41-year old Vester Lee Flanagan, who on-air went by the name Bryce Williams. Flanagan, a black man, has claimed racism in the past about a former employer and he made similar allegations on Wednesday about Parker.

Let's see, he claim he encountered racist comments. He claimed he was discriminated against because he was gay. He applauded the Columbine killers ..... on the other hand various managers said he was difficult to work with. I don't buy his claim of racism. He was just trying to find a means to justify his cowardly act."Jamaica's future reflects its past, having attained only one per cent annual growth over 30 years whilst neighbours have grown at five per cent."
