This section summarizes experience with area wide pricing in Singapore, London and Stockholm. We have described the Singapore experience in greater depth than London and Stockholm because information about the Singapore pricing programs is somewhat scarce and more difficult to access while information about London and Stockholm is relatively more abundant and accessible.
The section provides impact findings for each project relating to mobility, costs/revenues, environment, equity (where available), economic/productivity, business and public acceptance, and outreach.

The concept of the program was approved by the City Council last year. If adopted, it is expected to generate $1.59 million in net revenue annually.

Under the program, the first offense would be $100, the second $250, the third $500 and the fourth $1,000.

SINGAPORE — The authorities are looking to form a volunteer corps of individuals who will be empowered to fine offenders who litter, spit, urinate and smoke in prohibited places.

Initially envisioned as an anti-litter volunteer corps — trained and given the same warrant cards as enforcement officers from the National Environment Agency (NEA) — by Environment and Water Resources Minister Vivian Balakrishnan last year, the scheme could now be expanded to include other public health offences.

Parking changes will impact LCC students
In East Lansing last year, city and university police and employees wrote more than 150,000 citations for violations as minor as an expired meter to more serious alcohol-related offenses.

The aggressive enforcement means more tickets were written in East Lansing — with a population of 49,000, more than half of them students — than in larger nearby university towns of Ann Arbor and Kalamazoo.

downward spiral in California city governments’ revenue streams has occurred for the last five years starting with the housing bubble that burst property tax returns by 40 percent. Warnings contained in the California Department of Finance’s Economic Indicators, January–February 2008 report state that

the current economic slowdown afflicting California and the nation is the result of a one-two punch. The first blow fell in 2005 and 2006 when real estate markets peaked and began a gradual slowdown. Late in 2006, it appeared that despite some losses, home sales and prices had stabilized. The second blow, though, fell in 2007 when the subprime lending meltdown and rising foreclosures led to the implosion of real estate mortgage markets. Residential real estate markets were jolted by rising inventories as too many homes were on the market and the number of qualified buyers, particularly those looking to move up, dwindled. Ominously, as 2007 progressed, the likelihood steadily increased that rather than just suffering through severe corrections in breal estate and home construction markets, the economy might run into a full-fledged economic slowdown.

Quality of life is a billion dollar business that impacts everyone and says it all about your city.

Wi loosing billlions,only one way to get that culture back in Jamaica .

The negatives are that it targets select communities ,making it racist and economically unbearable for poor areas,like certain parts of harlem and brooklyn,gentrification changed those areas,no one can argue that.The challenge will always be balance.Cant see it hapening in our corrupt system,we would have to have certain checks and balances like the OCG having powers to prosecute and the people being able to elect its P.M directly.
