Jamaican author makes Man Booker long list with Bob Marley novel
    LONDON
The long list of 13 titles for the 2015 Man Booker Prize for fiction written in English, published on Wednesday, features the first Jamaican author in contention for the 50,000-pound ($78,000) prize.

Marlon James is nominated for his third novel, "A Brief History of Seven Killings," the story of the attempted assassination of reggae singer Bob Marley and its aftermath in the Jamaica of the 1970s and early 80s.

THERE IS ONLY ONE ONANDI LOWE!

"Good things come out of the garrisons" after his daughter won the 100m Gold For Jamaica.

"It therefore is useless and pointless, unless it is for share malice and victimisation to arrest and charge a 92-year-old man for such a simple offence. There is nothing morally wrong with this man smoking a spliff; the only thing wrong is that it is still on the law books," said Chevannes.

Author shows off the real Jamaica through Bob Marley shooting
              By Vincent Dowd
              Arts reporter, BBC News

"But there are plenty of people like me who were raised very middle-class, in the suburbs. That's not something you find much on screen or in stories. You can't reduce Jamaica to one sentence and I wanted to show that."
The narrative ranges from the Caribbean to the USA. Critics have praised James' skill in telling a complex story through a tangle of narrators, each talking convincingly in his or her own style in short chapters.
