  • West Indian (Jamaican)Unsung heroes who worked in Panama

From 1900 to 1925 West Indians practicing medicine in Panama included Dr. Edward Stanley Mason, Dr. Peter McDonald Milliard, *Dr. Felix Ethelbert Lowe, Dr. Gilbert Henry Thomas, Dr. David S. Ogilve, Dr. J. Barnes, Dr, James Fitzosbert Anderson, Dr. Alexander McIntyre Fyfe. The last named still maintains offices in the city.

*Dr. Felix E. Lowe was my grand-uncle. My father (Kenneth Benjamin Lowe) decided to give me the Felix middle name: HFL.....(that I am not really fond of...but proud to continue family heritage).

Dr. Felix Lowe's brother was the Jamaican Attorney Arthur Benjamin Lowe

Have you contacted the author.I commended him on his site,he was elated.
THERE IS ONLY ONE ONANDI LOWE!

"Good things come out of the garrisons" after his daughter won the 100m Gold For Jamaica.

"It therefore is useless and pointless, unless it is for share malice and victimisation to arrest and charge a 92-year-old man for such a simple offence. There is nothing morally wrong with this man smoking a spliff; the only thing wrong is that it is still on the law books," said Chevannes.

          Very interesting StonyG!!

I have visited Panama once. Interacted with folks with Jamaica heritage who were born there. Believe it or not, they speak and understand patois......

But I need to do another more serious fact finding mission in that country. My Dad always mention family members in Panama that I have never met.

Yeah very cool, I have met more than a few Panamanians in New York, Florida and here in Texas that are all part of the greater Caribbean communities in those areas, many times I have assumed they were Jamaicans and found out different with a little more talk. One of the guys I knew actually ran a jamaican restaurant here in Texas.
