POST-MORTEM reports have suggested that 35 of the civilians killed during the operation to apprehend Tivoli Gardens don Christopher 'Dudus' Coke in 2010 were shot in the back
The figure was cited yesterday by commission Chairman Sir David Simmons during an exchange with former police commissioner, Owen Ellington.

And the rest in the head at point blank range?

Sorry, I have not read the report, just an educated guess!

Maybe Owen retired before the autopsy reports became available, orherwise it is inconceivable that he wasn't privy to the info therein given the serious questions surrounding his agents activities during the incursion.
Also,he clearly has a knack for involving third parties in police matters,he solicted help from Rev Blair, and he consulted with Dudus on the implementation of a Police Youth Club in TG.My guess is he asked A politician for help regarding the latter(the unorthodox naming of the youth club).
Owen is the head of the most controversial police operation,he should be soaking wet from constantly sweating .

        by whom?

if we accept that there were persons in Tivoli with weapons who were firing at the security forces, then there remains an open question as to who shot those persons.

we have heard evidence but where forensic evidence is available that should be placed on the table.

I find it amazing that for all the firepower Tivoli was supposed to have, none of the residents who testified saw, heard or knows anything.

Even when Jounalists weregiven their first tour after the incursion, residents were reluctant to speak,I am not surprised TG residents saw very little given the great level of trepidation.Bottom line,it is hard to justify shooting someone in the back,37 people getting shot in the back suggests it was institutionalized..

we can agree that the high number is VERY disturbing, we could even agree that because of the high number it is institutionalised (evidence is lacking here to prove this but I will accept that premise) ... the question is WHICH institution? is it the state of Tivoli or the state security forces of Jamaica. I do not know the answer to that. do you?
