Nothing in reggae has put up big numbers recently. That is partly due to changes in the industry and the ease of getting music for free. Only mega-stars like Taylor Swift can be counted on to sell millions of albums these days.

Reggae is more of a live music format now.

Canadian reggae group put some impressive number recently.

Yeah it is sad but the format has change and this has affected creativity badly. What is in it for an independent producer if he or she has no management control over an artists?

You can't compare anyone in the
history of reggae to Taylor Swift.
            Different category, marketing,
promotions etc. A major US label
will not pickup these albums with poor international appeal.

Was not comparing them really. I was making the point that only real mega-stars are generating big record sales these days, regardless of genre.

As an example the top hip hop album of 2014 sold less than 400,000 its first week of release. 50 Cent and Eminem at their peak were selling more than a million in their first week.

Reggae music has many other problems but even without those sales would still have been down dramatically.
