The Hon. Dr. Henry I. C. Lowe, OJ
The Calabar Old Boys’ Association (COBA) congratulates Dr. Henry Lowe, a graduate of Calabar High School, for his latest accomplishment in a career of stellar achievements. On December 3, 2013 Dr. Lowe launched Jamaica’s first medical ganja company – Medicanja Ltd. to capitalise on the multibillion-dollar industry’s commercialisation.
This is not Dr. Lowe’s only affiliation with ganja research having participated in the early research into the efficacy of cannabis in the treatment of glaucoma. That research contributed to the eventual development of the highly effective glaucoma drug Canasol.
Dr. Lowe has pioneered research into the pharmacological value of a number of local plants. These include work on Petiveria alliacea known as “guinea hen weed”; Usnea australis - “old man’s beard” and Cannabis sativa - ganja.
Dr. Lowe, a biochemist and entrepreneur continues to give his Utmost for the Highest and COBA is pleased to salute him on this latest achievement.
