Here's the deal: Lenovo had embedded adware in its laptops to track everything you did and then serve you relevant ads. But the criminals have been able to hack into this Superfish. This pre-installed software has been causing all kinds of security risks to individuals and small businesses.
The superfish was embedded on laptops shipped from September 2014 to February 2015. Several dozen models have been infected, according to Lenovo:
