Crime fell in other cities but it was more pronounced in NYC. Yes Dinkins got the ball rolling and deserves more credit but if crime had gone back up under Guliani you would hear that under his leadership crime went up and he is responsible.
I guess he was just lucky that the freaks and whores in Time Square disappeared during his tenure too. So silly."It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men" - Frederick Douglass

Well I credit it my Grandma. Thank god for her or mi maybe my life would be so wholesome. Can live like everybody else or I would hate my own flesh.- Don't let negative things break you, instead let it be your strength, your reason for growth. Life is for living and I won't spend my life feeling cheated and downtrodden.

Are you waiting to find the right article that helps your campaign while ignoring the hundreds that don't? Keep trying, I'm sure Giuliani must have written something.

As I stated and always said, it started under Mayor Dinkins and accelerated under Guiliani. Are you saying policies and leadership had nothing to do with the reduction in crime?- Don't let negative things break you, instead let it be your strength, your reason for growth. If you check the graph I showed Sass the other day, the decline was steady between the years it started going down and during Giuliani's tenure. Had there been a noticeable dip when Giuliani was mayor then one could attribute it to something he may have done.
And during those years crime continued to fall for all large US cities so why would we be thinking that Giuliani was doing something special to keep it moving in that direction?!
Of course, had it begun to increase under Giuliani, then clearly he would have to shoulder considerable blame.

The graph you game me had 3 cities and the national Average. I want to see more larger cities during that time.- Don't let negative things break you, instead let it be your strength, your reason for growth. Life is for living and I won't spend my life feeling cheated and downtrodden.

Forget what I said, Sass. There are a million articles out there. Some go as far as outlining what he should be given credit for and what he should not be given credit for.
Read something, Sass, or hold on to your views based on ignorance. It's your right. Giuliani may not feel that way, however.

"During the administration of Giuliani’s predecessor, David Dinkins, the city murder rate fell 13.7 percent; robbery, 14.6 percent; burglary, 17.6 percent; auto theft, 23.8 percent. These were the most dramatic drops in the city’s crime rate since the Second World War—and when one considers that it was Mayor Dinkins, after all, who pushed through a bold tax surcharge to finance the hiring of 6,000 more police officers in the first place, it’s hard to resist the conclusion that Dinkins, rather than Giuliani, might have become a national figure as a law-and-order mayor…that is, had he been a white man, instead of the “fancy*shvartze*with a moustache” that Giuliani sycophant Jackie Mason so shamefully labeled him."

"Despite Giuliani’s frantic efforts to grab credit for it, the revitalization of Times Square came from a massive state-city development effort that began under Governor Mario Cuomo and Mayor Ed Koch, and was completed (again) by the Dinkins administration, which got the Disney corporation to make a financial commitment to developing midtown before Giuliani ever took office. The porn shops and theatres that Giuliani took credit for turning out were also gone from “the Deuce” months before Rudy ever got to City Hall. The last, graffiti-covered subway car was taken off the line in 1989, the final year of the Koch administration, and the city was considered remarkably free of graffiti in general, and its streets markedly cleaner, by the time the Democratic convention came to town in 1992. Even the seventy-five or so known “squeegee” men, as Barrett documents, had been permanently removed from their stations by police before Giuliani actually came to power."

I will always read and make my opinion base on that, and you know I do that, I will not make it base on hate of Guliani.
What I can clearly remember was him taking on the Mob and gangs like no other and the cleaning up NY City. Places like 42 street and some places in Manhattan which was a cesspool. There is no denying that.
He has a huge people problem and a lot of blacks in NY felt it, but give thanks to strong black representation at the time including Sharpton.Last edited by Assasin; March 5, 2015, 12:22 PM.- Don't let negative things break you, instead let it be your strength, your reason for growth. If you will read, just a little bit, you'll realise that, yes, there is much denying that!

Again, was he was just lucky that the freaks and whores in Time Square disappeared during his tenure too? Or did his policies have something to do wuith cleaning up the city?
NYC was a MUCH more pleasant place to be in 2000 than it had been for the previous 30 years. It was not just crime, the whole quality of life of the city was much improved."It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men" - Frederick Douglass
