Protesting students padlock gates at Trench Town High School
Davies, Thwaites lash Trench Town students

BY KIMMO MATTHEWS Observer staff reporter matthewsk@jamaicaobserver.com

    Thursday, February 26, 2015

"We are frustrated and angry about the plan to merge Trench Town and Charlie Smith. Trench Town is a school with a rich history, it is an institution that has helped to uplift a lot of young people in the community; this is unacceptable," said one parent who supported the action of the students.

However, the announce-ment caused protests from Charlie Smith High School students and supporters, many of whom argued that Charlie Smith was the superior of the two institutions and, therefore, should not be the one to be closed down.

Here a piece that they weren't consulted. The board, the teachers etc. If that is the case it should be communicated but I support the creating a school and a trade center as proposed by the Mister and the MP.

Were not consulted?!? Please! I can bet the parents all missed the special meeting that was called to make the announcement.

It makes sense to close one of the two schools because each is operating at about 50% of capacity and I am guessing that they have similar capacity. However there will be loss of employment and the risk of over crowding.
The same type of thinking that created a problem cannot be used to solve the problem.

Will there really be? Even so loss of employment cannot be a reason to keep a school open.

If someone lies for little things they would definitely lie for BIG things.
Charle Smith,TTnand Tivoli share two things in common:failing schools and from garrisons ran by leaders in the higher echelons of Govt.
Omar Davis visiting his crime(school) scene is akin to the woman at the helm of the IMF perching in Jamaica to confirm the kill.

The lie reference is of course alluding to those larger than life politicians failing miserably at making a difference in a community but are employed to make a difference with a whole country.
