Great! You do wonder on 'teaching' in our schools and the effect it has on development of our people.
Btw - That was not the first time a question relative to who we are as a people was asked at one of these events."Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."

Two things I find troubling, like I said,I have no problem with her answers ergo the intelligence of the persons judging..,and had they asked her about ice skating then..but surely she would have been prepared to answer the question actually asked. She is an ambassador so someone dropped the ball(she seemingly had to fend for herself).

It really is not one or the other, both identified the evil force and alluded to solutions;the rasta way of life and the economic detachment which would lead to empowerment.
No doubt,Garvey's remains The blueprint that will eventually be used once people are forced to take a serious..

Could it be lack of vision that allows unwillingness to give the original trailblazer his due or a mental paralysis or a thought process that acknowledges the effect of 'the now' to exclusion of past influences and contributions?
In a thousand years or less when, for example, a 'new Jamaica prophet' comes along regurgitating Marcus Garvey's teachings Bob will no longer be our flag bearer as per some in this thread?
Just asking!"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."

Karl if our fifty plus audience don't get that it is bigger than any one person then it will be tough to teach others.
Btw some people think that this question is about what the world thinks we have given, it is the other way around, the real deal is what we have contributed to the world and a lot of it is not the pretty stuff like usain and bob, it's the fire and brimstone of five hundred years of Jamaica that produce, Marcus, Bob and Usain.

Kaci would have gotten an A+ from me is she had thrown in the Jamaican bobsledders! Think about the implications of our competing in a winter sport at an Olympics!
