President of the Peoples National Party (PNP), Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller has criticised the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) for what she calls using a family's pain in its advertising campaign.
Addressing a PNP rally in Junction St. Elizabeth Wednesday night, Mrs. Simpson Miller called on the JLP to withdraw the advertisement.
The advertisement accuses the health department of failing to offer treatment to a victim of an accident because the family failed to pay a 40 thousand dollar fee.
But Mrs. Simpson Miller called the advertisement offensive and claimed that the family is hurt by it.
But General Secretary of the JLP Karl Samuda insisted that the advertisement would not be withdrawn.
Mr. Samuda said the party does not think the material is offensive as it uses material which was already in the public domain.
He said the advertisement is a commentary on the sad state of the public health system.
