Very opinionated but then, it is an opinion piece. I wonder mention wood have been made of Paul Burke if it was ever proven that he helped gunmen escape to Cuba?
We do know that at least one pnp affiliated gun sought refuge in Cuba, Anthony 'Hog' Brown. We also know that the PNP became a more 'free market' economy style government and we also know that the JLP adopted more of a socialist outlook under Golding....
But back to the big question, is this a victory for Cuba or the USA? Their is no doubt Rauls Cuba is not Fidel's and possibly this too was orchestrated to facilitate this move without it seeming that Fidel had compromised himself.
In any event chatter of 'victory' by either side would be counter productive and seems only relevant to persons who are stuck in time and want to justify their position albeit that "this is not your father's Chevrolet"

Victory for America in opening up business opportunities and it could be traded back and forth.....
Those labels are counter intuitive at this stage..

everybody a claim their victory but after so long it is good sense prevail for me.
As Obama say, if you do the same thing for so long and it doesn't work then it is wise to try something else. While many in Cuba celebrating, the farmers in the midwest and certain businesses have been asking for this for a long time. Only hope Cuba can take advantage and build their economy.- Don't let negative things break you, instead let it be your strength, your reason for growth. Life is for living and I won't spend my life feeling cheated and downtrodden.

There was no cry from Cuba for the extradition of the Cuban terrorists and only the faint murmurs from dome Governor from NJ could be heard regarding getting exiled female panter member.The terms of engagement have been set
Raul inherited a largely committed population from Fidel,and good relations with other countries.the impending changes in trading relationship between the US and Cuba is a green light for other countries.
The US has to compete.
Only Obama could have rectiied the situation,right a clear wrong.Comment

Decades too late for the maligned former PM and the whole country.

Victory for Obama and the US. Intelligent strategic move by Cuba. They have obviously seen the writing on the wall vis-a-vis Russia and Venezuela. Well played all around. Repugs(republicans) in a quandry, good.Comment
