Yes, Peter, Good Memory Lane Stuff From TDowl
Originally posted by Peter R View PostThanks...
By the way, the excellent keyboard player Mallory Williams is the son of orchestra leader Granville Williams. I haven’t heard anything of Mallory in years, but I recall that he was exceptionally good on the keyboards.
Looking at the above videos, several bring back vivid memories! I had completely forgotten about that outstanding trumpeter Baba Brooks. I’m sure both you, Peter, and TDowl also recall Carlos Malcolm and the Afro Jamaican Rhythms hit, “Bonanza Ska”. That was a hugely popular version by Carlos Malcolm!
The Eric Dean Orchestra was also important in the early history of our music!
The Mighty Vikings (lol)!! Great band that was, and we also had Lyn Taitt & the Jets, and later the Boris Gardiner Happening and others!
One question, TDowl, was the Sheiks a Jamaican group? I haven’t had time to check ths out.
