Antonio Martin shooting: Was it a tragic mistake?

The teenager had earphones in his ears, he pulls a lighted object from his pocket, advances towards the officer and raises his hands. The officer's reacted by shooting him and backing away. We need to see all the relevant unedited videos in order to sort out what really happened. In the meanwhile we all need to stay alive. The most important lesson to be learnt here is that if you are stopped by the police then you should tell the officer what you are going to do and whatever you do don't make any sudden moves.

The two peculiar things; both men did not look like robbery suspects fleeing a crime scene(no urgency)and no one from the store looked out the door(direction the suspects were heading and a possible description of a get away car) even when the cop arrived...
Not even sure if a robvery occurred and if one did take place why the responding vehicle did not have the siren on or have his gun drawn...?
