  • The Stop-Question-and-Frisk program in New York City

The Stop-Question-and-Frisk program in New York City is a practice of the New York City Police Department by which police officers stop and question hundreds of thousands of pedestrians annually, and frisk them for weapons and other contraband. The rules for stop, question and frisk are found in New York State Criminal Procedure Law section 140.50, and are based on the decision of the United States Supreme Court in the case of Terry v. Ohio.[1][2] About 684,000 people were stopped in 2011.[1][3][4] The vast majority of these people were African-American or Latino.[1][3][4] Some judges have found that these stops are not based on reasonable suspicion of criminal activity.[5]

THERE IS ONLY ONE ONANDI LOWE!

"Good things come out of the garrisons" after his daughter won the 100m Gold For Jamaica.

"It therefore is useless and pointless, unless it is for share malice and victimisation to arrest and charge a 92-year-old man for such a simple offence. There is nothing morally wrong with this man smoking a spliff; the only thing wrong is that it is still on the law books," said Chevannes.

Academic researchers have never found a credible link between low-level disorder and serious crime. There just isn’t any evidence that arresting squeegee men and aggressive panhandlers in midtown Manhattan helps reduce robberies and shootings in the outer boroughs, or that arresting tens of thousands of people a year for selling dime bags of marijuana does anything at all to stop serious crime.

This is basically a Police State action against Black & Latino men... It's instructive that the US incarcerates Black men at 8X Cuba's and 10X China's national rate. Most Black people are unaware or apparently don't think this is alarming enough to talk about

A forumite (HL I believe) has even spoken of investing in private prison companies that trade on the market....I guess since he believes the return will be acceptable because the market has good growth prospects.

The very idea should be an abomination for a Black person.... a symptom of a mental disease

The long term prognosis for freedom is not good. Even freedom of thought is endangered as people are both ignorant and as easily manipulated as the lab rats most have become

As usual we will feel the brunt of the assault

the sad thing is my son who loves to wear a hoodie has bought into "all lthey have to do is co-operate with the police" ... i am trying to tell him that a racist policeman who detains you for being black, is not the most likely candidate to be reasonable .... it's an oxymoron.

i have some work to do .....

The really sad thing is this young generation isn't asking for anything they were not told they are entitled to,countless legal documents reinforce that belief. The reality is so different though.
A great part of growing up is finding out the lies you believed,it removes virtually all the innocence.
