  • His work in the trade union movement is still discussed...

The following is replication of the words of Mario Woode:
His work in the trade union movement is still discussed today and he gives credence to the words of Marcus Garvey and Bob Marley about the need to emancipate ourselves from mental slavery when he says“The enslavement of the body which endured till 1838 was nothing to the enslavement of the mind which persisted since.”
    - Address at graduation ceremony at the University of the West Indies, Mona, Jamaica, December 14, 1974.

The relevance of Michael Manley's accomplishments, his world view and his Political ideology can be found in the numerous books published by Michael Manley and in his Autobiography . His work and life has been the subject of numerous literary works .

One thing is for sure whether one agreed with Michael Manley or no or if one hated him or not he evokes a passion that no other Jamaican leader has ever done in fact no Caribbean leader except possible Fidel Castro of Cuba.

Below please find a number of quotations from the many works of Michael Manley - http://michaelmanley.org/library/quotations/#3
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."

Michael Manley was ego driven--like most Jamaicans....

Michael legacy was about empowering the disenfrachised, a category to which he never belonged, where is the self centeredness in that?
If we are talking about nations,no other is more driven by egotism than yours.
