Most don't realize the global economic conflict that is going on RIGHT NOW due to geopolitical changes in the past 20 years. They read the so called "news" that's served up by corporate media and think that is enough for an understanding of the world. I just hope this "Cool War" period doesn't turn hot anytime soon

As I said before the BRICS countries have a long way to go before they have a viable alternative global financial structure...but they're making a start..

I don't see much happening in 5 years .... more like 15-20 before BRICS can START thinking about providing a credible alternative to the existing financial structure. That's assuming they can maintain growth rates as well as political cohesion.. that's a HUGE ask

Just building alternatives to the World Bank and IMF is not sufficient... they have to build all the major elements of a new global financial structure to make a significant difference... For example:

Alternatives to SWIFT & the Bank for International Settlements for interbank & corporate payments (BIS is relatively unknown but very deadly ) ... and internationally accepted credit/charge cards for consumer payments (China already has the UnionPay card system which is growing fast)

Alternatives to credit rating agencies, political risk insurance outfits (e.g. OPIC) etc

Build and/or buy out equity & commodity exchanges...and integrate their own financial markets across the BRICS countries

Above all their currencies have to be fully convertible and accepted internationally... to the point where 3rd parties use it routinely in trade, benchmark commodity prices with it (especially energy prices) and even use it in their monetary reserves

Exactly... The West is in somewhat of a panic mode. Power is slipping away at an increasing pace and they have fewer tools to stem the tide.

Yep some are foreseeing that SDRs will be the next standard solution once confidence in the USD nosedives... or it might be a basket of convertible currencies including the USD, Yuan, Yen, Euro & Swiss Franc & maybe gold

Whatever happens down the line the ride is guaranteed to be bumpy
