NYPD to Stop Making Arrests for Simple Possession of Marijuana


New York police will stop making arrests for low-level marijuana possession this month and instead will write tickets, ending years of arresting people who have no prior convictions for a "minor" offense.
City Mayor Bill de Blasio and Police Commissioner Bill Bratton held a press conference today, announcing that the new policy will take effect on November 19. From that day forward, people found in possession of 25 grams or less of weed can be subject to a summons, similar to a traffic citation.

I hope you read my post about the Black brooklyn DA forcing the mayors hand.I dont think its coincidence that the legal spear against ganja came from Afro Americans with roots in NY.Eric Holder ,Thompson and no doubt this lady Eric has put up to replace him.

They have seen the detrimental effects of this racist human rights policy of criminalizing,dehumanizing to brutalizing....This Mario Deane policy ,this anti Rasta policy, this Brooklyn,Bronx ,Manhathan ,Queens racial policy against people of color.Thompson called it ,he said no more prosecutions in brooklyn,which would affect policy across the tri state.All the other boroughswould have a spill over affect.DEblasio hand was moved after promising and stalling on the issue and he gets the credit....kissteeth...politricks.

Some did,some didnt, i know a youth who it blocked him from citizenship,fought deportation,this new law,lets see how it goes.

Once you get a criminal record in America, your life is over. No access to student loans, no state or federal jobs. You end up like many of those
losers you see drinking cheap liquor on the street in the hood.

Study examines impact of imprisonment on 3 communities in Massachusetts


Incarceration is creating a social and economic crisis in Boston’s black community, leaving families without breadwinners, creating single-parent households, and depressing incomes, according to a survey by the Center for Church and Prison, a Dorchester research and resource center.
Families, the report found, must struggle to stay together under the weight of loss: the loss of financial stability, loss of family stability, loss of a sense of security.
The findings build on other research that identifies the disproportionate effect of the war on drugs on the black community and the emphasis in the criminal justice system on punishment, rather than rehabilitation.

Blacks and Hispanics make up less than 20 percent of the state’s population but more than 55 percent of its prison population, according to the survey, which sought to use empirical data to illustrate the side effects of incarceration on Boston’s black community, he said.
