    ...in a Sports Stadium

It’s been called dark, disturbing and anti-American. Yet it’s beloved by real estate developers and commands near-unanimous support from Congress. And it may soon be financing a shiny new sports stadium near you.

Sports owners, developers and regional politicians are increasingly keen to use so-called EB-5 financing to fund a portion of stadium and arena construction projects across the U.S. And the lawyers and financiers who work with EB-5 investors say the rapid growth of the program — and a crescendoing public outcry against financing stadium construction with new taxes — makes its near-term entrance into the sports world inevitable.

    EB-5 Visa: Immigrant Investor Program

USCIS administers the Immigrant Investor Program, also known as “EB-5,” created by Congress in 1990 to stimulate the U.S. economy through job creation and capital investment by foreign investors. Under a pilot immigration program first enacted in 1992 and regularly reauthorized since, certain EB-5 visas also are set aside for investors in Regional Centers designated by USCIS based on proposals for promoting economic growth.

All EB-5 investors must invest in a new commercial enterprise, which is a commercial enterprise:
    •Established after Nov. 29, 1990, or
•Established on or before Nov. 29, 1990, that is:
    1. Purchased and the existing business is restructured or reorganized in such a way that a new commercial enterprise results, or
    2. Expanded through the investment so that a 40-percent increase in the net worth or number of employees occurs

I just watched the movie American Hustle last week and that came up. This was based on real events which took place in the 70's. The mayor of NJ was getting the backing of the mob to build the casinos in Atlantic City. The FBI had set up a fake Arab sheik to put up the money. Knowing that the American public would never condone an Arab, this was during the time of the oil crisis, owning a US casino, the mob came up with the idea to grant citizenship to the Arab with the help of a few congressmen.

              Tremendous influx.
...but it appears there is no giving up of citizenship of birth.

Miami area Central & S. Americans arrive in bucket-loads.
...understand that right up and down the coast in Florida they are also coming in.

I wonder how long it has been going on as my late brother-in-law told me sometime in the 1980sit was available for an investment of $40,000.
