  • Hospitals in battle to pay people's Obamacare premiums

By Julie Appleby, Kaiser Health News @CNNMoney August 19, 2014: 8:22 AM ET

    NEW YORK (CNNMoney)

Low-income consumers struggling to pay their Obamacare premiums may soon be able to get help from their local hospital or United Way.

Some hospitals in New York, Florida and Wisconsin are exploring ways to provide such aid, which would at least partly guarantee the hospitals get paid when the consumers seek care.

    mmmm?
Is this the start of a stampede to 100% health care for Americans?

...the emotion, rational thinking (being prepared for catastrophic illnesses and attendant billing/bills)...and contrary to talk of increased insurance premiums...a lowering of premiums as growth in receptiveness to purchasing health insurance becomes 'way of life'....'it is the thing we do' ...the done thing...socially acceptable act and on the other side, being considered less than sensible if one remains uninsured...drives health insurance purchases?

Would be very good if it caught on.The only way premiums will be affordable in the long term is if the insured pool grows and includes sufficient mounts of young healthy people.

This sounds like a "good for business" decision by the hospitals. Nothing wrong with that if it is good for the consumer too!
