    I’m not sure if you inadvertently attached this comment to my post, because I clearly included Jimmy Cliff as a great songwriter in my second post in this thread!

    In any case, this was not an attempt to list all of our great songwriters; I merely gave a few random examples of Jamaican songwriters. I intend to initiate a discussion of our outstanding songwriters (and there are many!), but that will be for another thread and a later date.

        No problem, boss. Trust me, I too would have been upset if Jimmy Cliff was left out of any list of great Jamaican songwriters!

        Like I said though, I plan to start a thread soon on this topic of “Great Jamaican Songwriters” because, despite the criticisms our music has received (including much from me as far as 21st century dancehall is concerned), we have produced a tremendous amount of talented, world class songwriters and record producers in our relatively short history!
