SHE was not surprised when she blew through her Caribbean Secondary Examination Council (CSEC) and Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) exams; in fact, 15-year-old Zinedine Russell was "happy and relieved... and my reaction was just a smile".
The Convent of Mercy Academy 'Alpha' high achiever decided to test the waters with CSEC mathematics in 2012, and her success in the subject encouraged her to pursue additional mathematics, principles of accounts and English language in 2013, scoring straight ones in all subjects.
Russell placed first in Jamaica and third in the region for additional mathematics, and eighth in Jamaica for principles of accounts.
With the bar set high, she tackled biology, chemistry, physics, geography, information technology, French and English literature in this year's examinations, and maintained the high standard she had set for herself.
With the exception of geography, this Barbican resident scored straight A profiles in all, tucking a whopping 11 CSEC ones under her belt.
