The year is 2030, the venue is the National Arena.... the event is the Caribbean Regional FIRST Robotics Championships
The stands are packed with 15,000 spectators cheering on 100 primary schools in the Lego League Championship and 100 high schools in the FIRST Tech Challenge... A total of 3000 budding engineers and scientists, 12-19 y.o. proudly represent their schools with robots they've designed, built & programmed
Assisting the teams are 400 graduates of Jamaican high school robotics... all either in college or having already graduated with STEM-related degrees
On the sidelines the college booths feature reps from UWI, Utech, UCC, NCC, Rensselaer Polytechnic, Brooklyn Poly, Georgia Tech and others.... all offering the participants scholarships to their computer tech and engineering programs
Prime Minister Holness... newly installed after 18 years in the wilderness, gives the keynote address... entitled "Vision 2050- Developed Nation Status through Stem" (since di PNP dun flop di program)
