    The sixth summit of the BRICS group of large emerging economies in Fortaleza, Brazil, is a curtain-raiser to a brave new world where leading developing countries finally challenge the iniquitous international system.

    Since the 1970s, poorer nations have articulated visions of a New International Economic Order (NIEO) entailing non-exploitative interactions between the Global North and the Global South. But it is only now, with the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) all set to launch ambitious new economic institutions, that we are walking the talk.

    FORTALEZA, July 15 (RIA Novosti), Daria Chernyshova - The BRICS Trade Ministers have acknowledged the "BRICS Economic Cooperation Strategy" and "Framework of BRICS Closer Economic Partnership," as well as welcomed the idea of setting a roadmap for coordinated approach to implement these initiatives, the joint communiqué on the meeting of the BRICS Trade Ministers in Fortaleza says.
    "The Ministers acknowledged the documents "BRICS Economic Cooperation Strategy" and "Framework of BRICS Closer Economic Partnership" and welcomed the efforts to establish guidelines for a coordinated approach to economic cooperation among the BRICS, especially on trade and investment," the communiqué reads.

      Over the past decade, the BRICS countries, namely Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, have been an engine of global economic growth even in an atmosphere of global recession.

      The BRICS countries take up a vast 29.6% of the land on earth, and they sustain 42.6% of the world’s population. Trade dynamics among the five economies are highly complementary, which presents a huge potential for trade cooperation.

      The five BRICS countries’ combined GDP hit around 15.7 trillion US dollars in 2013, and accounts for around 21% of the world’s total GDP.

            China forgein Aid dwarfs the IMF/World Bank, how much so the Brics in 10 years and their focus is infrastructure.I am impressed it only started 5 years ago and they dismissed it as talk.Given the Geo politics in 5 more years expect a noticiable shift to Asia/Indian continent.

            Japan and Germany amongst others will bang down the doors to get into it , then what IMF/World Bank ?

                    The BRICS countries want to challenge the international financial system’s dependency on US policies and strengthen the rule of international law, Vladimir Putin said. He stressed, however, that there are no plans for a military or political alliance.
