It is no secret that China is changing Latin America. Heedless of Washington’s interests, China, one of BRIC’s (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) most powerful members, is enriching the region for reasons all its own. Along with a handful of other Asian nations, China has even raised the prices of many Latin American exports—something the United States endeavored to stop decades ago with free-trade policy and a liberalization of the region’s economies. The upturn in commodity prices in the last decade is but one telltale sign of things to come. Sino-Latin trade and exchange have yet to reach fruition.

THERE IS ONLY ONE ONANDI LOWE!

"Good things come out of the garrisons" after his daughter won the 100m Gold For Jamaica.

"It therefore is useless and pointless, unless it is for share malice and victimisation to arrest and charge a 92-year-old man for such a simple offence. There is nothing morally wrong with this man smoking a spliff; the only thing wrong is that it is still on the law books," said Chevannes.

No doubt Latin America are seeking other options(hi Portia)in their best interest.
I really do not wish to hijack this thread but Argentina dealings woth the IMF proved detrimental to that country, yet the same remedy was prescribed to Greece, anything but a change.
China, like other nations, has in the past voted favourably on UN proposed resolutions and received financial benefits doing so.
The progress made in Latin America has to be protected....

America way of doing business in the third world is under threat(IMF/WORLD BANK ETC) and it serves China and the third world to break that western monoply. The threat will only grow as it should ,neo liberal consumerism ideas will clash -The Asian and the Western with the Chinese and American protraying those interest.

American capitalism has to compete with the chinese in latin america with cavets of equal standing rather than bullets or plots of economic destabilization. The asians look at us as the healthier our economies are the more they can trade with us, the west view is the more dependent or broke we are the more they can dictate trade, different ideologoies.

The disinformation is in hyping up the pacific rim ,Chile and MEX and disregarding Brazil, which they acknowledge as the biggest latin american market.Latin America gravitates around Brazil, ignore it at your peril, even those that have American interest at heart, must take into account Brazils interest before moving forward.

Jamaica has to find out and demand what neo liberal consumerist ideology serves its interest.

          Yup,you are spot on.
Worth noting,it is Latin America paradigm that is desirable,China MUST fall in line..
Alluding to the possibilty of the need to ensure China does not change....
