Just about every capitalist country don't want the Winter games and now one of the most capitalist city on earth (New York) don't want the Summer Games.
The most effective strategy would be to re-use Olympic and World Cup venues. I see that day coming that in order to make a profit, the Olympics will have to be awarded to the same city twice within 4 or 8 years.
Brazil got the World Cup and Olympic one year apart. I wonder if they designed the new football stadiums with extra space so that they add a can be used in 2016 for both football and track and field?
